Sharing ----- A letter home 教学设计
Step1.Leading in-warming up 1. Show the sign of United Nations Volunteer in China. 2. What do volunteers usually do? Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Show the title and a map to the students and introduce some information about Pa pua New Guinea. Step3. while-reading Fast-reading : Read this passage as quickly as possible and do the following exercises. (Before their reading, give them some reading tips.) Task 1: Match each paragraph with its correct main idea Para 1 A. What Jo’s school is like Para 2 B. Jo’s first visit to a village Para 3 C. How the villagers cooked their meals Para 4 D. Jo said goodbye to the villagers Para 5 E. The way to deal with leftover food Para 6 F. What the hut was like outside and inside Para 7 G Poor school conditions Para 8 H.The ending of the letter Para 9 I.The purpose of the letter Task 2: Fill in the blanks according to their main ideas of each part. Part 1 (Paragraph 1): Opening of the letter and introduction. Part 2(Paragraph ___-___): The school where Jo worked and Jo’s work at school. Part 3(Paragraph ___-____): Jo and Jenny visited Tombe’s home in the village. Part 4 (Paragraph 9): Ending of the letter. Careful reading Task 1: Read paragraph 2-3 and finish the questions. 1.Why does Jo call the high school a “bush school”? 2.Were the boys friendly to Jo? How do you know? 3.Why was science the most challenging subject for Jo? 4.Why did the boys start jumping out of the windows? Task 2: Read paragraph 4-8 and fill in the blanks.
