It’s too short

Teaching aims and demands 1. Aims on the knowledge (1) To enable the Ss to master the pronunciation of the letter “e” in the words of rereading closed syllable and spell the words including it. (2) To enable the Ss to listen, speak and read the new words: dress, but, then, let, us, make, like, nice. (3) Let Ss listen and speak the new words: short, blouse, vest. (4) The Ss can understand and say the communicative language: “It’s too short. Let’s make a vest.” and use them in the real situations. 2. Aims on the abilities (1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking. (2) To train the Ss’ abilities of working in groups. (3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation. 3. Aims on the emotion (1)To develop the Ss’ interests of showing off themselves and setting up their self-confidence in language study. (2) To let Ss know about the ways of communicating with others and train their communication skills in their daily life. (3)To develop the Ss’ interests in English. Teaching main points and difficulties 1. Main points (1) Let the Ss understand, read and use the new words: dress, but, then, let, us, make, like, nice. (2) The Ss can read the dialogue fluently and can act it out. 2. Difficulties Make the Ss use the sentences: It’s too short. Let’s make a vest. And can make new sentences in the real daily life. Prepare before the class 1. Tape and recorder. 2. Word cards. 3. Some clothes pictures Teaching procedures Step1. Warm-up 1. Free talk between T and Ss T: Hello, boys and girls. Glad to meet you here. How are you today? Ss: Hello, miss. Me, too. I’m fine. Thank you. How are you? 2. Review the words of this lesson Give the Ss one minute to review the words. After that play the game of helping the baby cards to find their home. Step2. Presentation 1. Learn a chant. Dress, dress, make a dress. Let’s make a dress. Short, short, it’s too short. The T says the chant while acting. The Ss say and act after the T. Then the teacher writes “vest/too long, blouse/so nice.” on the blackboard. Let Ss to make a new chant with them. 2. Learn Let’s talk (1) Lead-in The T dresses up as Mrs. Hen and acts the dialogue out with a toy chick, then Mrs. Hen invites the Ss to sing “Happy birthday” for the baby chick. At last the T asks the following questions: What is the baby chick’s gift at last? Is it a dress? Why? Is it a blouse? Why? Then what is it? (2) Practice Listen to the tape and the Ss read the dialogue after the recorder. Then act the dialogue between the T and the Ss. After that, act the dialogue in groups. Later practise bween the partners. At last let some partners to show it. 3. Sum up and extending T: You all did a good job today. But do you remember what the baby chick said when she got the gift from her mother? Ss: Thank you.

T: Yes. You are so clever. In western countries, if you receive a gift from others, you should say “Thank you very much.” And then it’s polite to open the package at once and praise the gift just like “Oh, how nice /beautiful! It’s so cool. I like it very much.” So next time, if a friend gives you a gift, Please remember this and just do like that. Homework Part A: Act the dialogue out with your partners. Part B: If Mary will go to a fashion party this Sunday. Please make some nice clothes for her and make a dialogue with your partners. Blackboard design
