Content Let the students talk about how they make new friends,before the lesson, ask the students how they make friends. 1.How do they get in touch with their friends? 2. Do you like making friends? 3. Have you made any new friends in our class? ask the students to describe the quality of their friends in one or two sentences. Ask the students to list some qualities of a good friend or their ideal friend. Have the students score their survey according to the scoring sheet on Page 8. Ask the students to summarize what friendship is and what is the most important in making friends themselves. Begin to focus students' attention on the main topic of the reading passage. 1.Make a list of reasons why friends are important to you. 2. What do you think a good friend should be like? 3. Does a friend always have to be a person?

While walking the dog, you were careless and it got loose and was hit by a car. 这里的while walking the dog 可以看作是状语从句 while you were walking the dog 的省略。在 状语从句中,如果从句的主语和主句的主语一致时,从句中的主语和be 动词可省略。 2. I don’t want to set down a series of facts in a diary as most people do, but I want this diary itself to be my friend. 这是一个由but连接并列复合句,第一分句中的as most people do 是方式状语 从句。a series of “一系列”。句意:我不愿意大多数人那样在日记中记流水账,我要把这本 日记当作我的朋友”。

5. …it was the first time in a year and a half that I’d seen the night face to face… It is/was the first / second/… time that … 是固定句型,that 引导的从句时态一般用完成时。 e.g. It is the third time that I have been to Beijing. 这是我第三次来北京。 He said that it was the first time that he had met such a strange person. 他说他还是第一次遇到这么奇怪的人。 6.If you have some trouble (in) getting along with your friends ,you can write to the editor and ask for advice. 这里 have trouble in doing something ,意思是做某事有困难。 e.g. I have some difficulty (in) following our teacher in English class. 在英语课上,跟上老师的课我感到很吃力。 They had little trouble with new school life. 适应新的学校生活,他们几乎没有问题。 1)直接引语如果是陈述句,间接引语应改为由that引导的宾语从句。如: She said, "Our bus will arrive in five minutes." →She said that their bus would arrive in five minutes. 2)直接引语如果是选择疑问句或一般疑问句,间接引语应改为由whether或if引导的宾语 从句. 如:He said, "Can you swim, John?" →He asked John if he could swim. "You have finished the homework, haven‘t you?" my mother asked. →My mother asked me whether I had finished the homework. "Do you go to school by bus or by bike?" →He asked me if I went to school by bus or by bike. 3)直接引语如果是特殊问句,变成间接引语时,由原句的疑问词 who,whom,whose,how,When,why,where等引导。 She asked me, "When do they have their dinner?" → She asked me when they had their dinner. 4)直接引语如果是祈使句,间接引语应改为"tell (ask) sb (not) to do sth."句型。 "Don’t make any noise," she said to the children. →She told (ordered) the children not to make any noise. "Bring me a cup of tea, please," said she. →She asked him to bring her a cup of tea. 5)直接引语如果是以“Let’s”开头的祈使句,变为间接引语时,通常用“suggest +动名 词(或从句)。”如:He said, "Let’s go to the film." →He suggested going to the film. 或He suggested that they should go to see the film. 6)直接引语是感叹句时,间接引语为what 或how 引导,也可以用that 引导。 She said, "What a lovely day it is !" →She said what a lovely day it was .或She said that it was a lovely day.

7)如果直接引语中含有since, when, while 引导的表示过去时间的状语从句,在变为间接 引语时,只改变主句中的谓语动词,从句的一般过去时则不变。如: He said to me, "I have taught English since he came here ." →He told me that he had taught English since he came here. 8)句型的变化 a. 直接引语为陈述句时, b. 直接引语为一般疑问句时 c. 直接引语为特殊疑问句时 d. 直接引语为祈使句时 9) 时态的变化 一般现在时 一般过去时 现在进行时 过去进行时 一般将来时 过去将来时 一般过去时 过去完成时 现在完成时 过去完成时 过去完成时 过去完成时 10)指示代词、时间状语的变化、地点状语和动词的变化 this that these those now then today that day tonight that night yesterday the day before two day ago two day before tommorrow the next day next week the next week
